A two-day technical conference on AI agents and the Model Context Protocol, held at RAI Amsterdam on 17 and 18 September 2026, run by the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation, with 114 speakers on the published directory and a call for proposals that bans product pitches.
AGNTCon + MCPCon Europe is the annual European flagship conference of the Agentic AI Foundation, a directed fund of the Linux Foundation. It merges two strands into one programme: AGNTCon, on agent architectures, orchestration and infrastructure, and MCPCon, on the Model Context Protocol. The 2026 edition runs on 17 and 18 September at RAI Amsterdam and is aimed at people building agent systems in production rather than at buyers of finished products.

The Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), a directed fund formed on 9 December 2025 inside the Linux Foundation, which also handles registration, sponsorship and logistics through LF Events. The foundation was anchored by three donated projects: the Model Context Protocol from Anthropic, goose from Block and AGENTS.md from OpenAI. The official schedule directory listed 114 speakers on 9 September 2026, with roles as published below. Third-party listings still quote 99 speakers, a figure that predates the final schedule.
This is the first edition under this name, so nothing carries over from a previous AGNTCon + MCPCon Europe. Two changes matter to anyone who followed the earlier circuit. The European Model Context Protocol conference, which ran as MCP Developers Summit Europe in London on 2 October 2025, has no standalone 2026 date: the 2026 foundation calendar lists no European MCP Dev Summit, and MCPCon is a named track inside this conference instead. Third-party listing sites still publish "MCP Dev Summit Europe" at RAI Amsterdam on the same two days, which is this event under its former name and not a second event. Second, the foundation itself is new: it was formed on 9 December 2025, after the 2025 European summit. A Model Context Protocol Associate (MCPA) certification voucher is also new, sold as a 175 EUR add-on at registration.
Around 100 sessions over two days, in ten published categories: Agentic Commerce, Agentic Engineering, Building Reliable Agent Systems, Enterprise Adoption in Practice, Evals and Testing, Human-Agent Collaboration, Interoperability and Standards, MCPCon, Multi-Agent and Distributed Systems, Open Source Tools. Recurring subjects across them: AI agents, the Model Context Protocol, agent orchestration, agent security and authorisation, observability, and open interoperability standards. Thursday keynotes include David Soria Parra of Anthropic on co-creating MCP and Clare Liguori of AWS on reactive agents; Friday opens with Shaun Smith of Hugging Face on stateless MCP in production and closes with a panel on MCP challenges and opportunities.
Five formats, all in person: keynotes (15 across the two days, in short 5 to 15 minute slots), breakout technical sessions as the main body of the programme, sponsored sessions, hands-on workshops (5, in a dedicated room), and the Solutions Showcase, which is the expo hall and also where coffee breaks, lunch and the evening reception happen. There is no organiser-run one-to-one meeting system and no pre-scheduled bilateral appointments: networking is unstructured, around the showcase and the community gatherings.
Everything sits inside the two conference days, 17 to 18 September 2026. On the Thursday, an Attendee Reception opens at 18:00 in the Solutions Showcase, included in the attendee and expo passes, and a Women and Non-Binary Community Gathering runs over the lunch break in the Emerald Lounge. The Solutions Showcase itself stays open until 19:30 that evening. Complimentary onsite childcare runs on both event days. The MCPA certification is sold as a 175 EUR add-on rather than run as an onsite exam session. No awards programme, no hackathon and no separate day-zero events are published for this edition.
Attendee pass: 795 EUR, with 21% VAT not included in the listed price, observed on the registration page on 9 September 2026. The early bird rate of 275 EUR expired on 3 September 2026 and is shown struck through. Academic pass: 130 EUR, for full-time students and for faculty and staff, on proof of institutional ID, transcript or employment. Expo and Party Pass: 129 EUR, which buys the exhibit hall, coffee, the evening event and the recordings but no lunch and no conference sessions. Two discounts stack onto those rates: 20% for Linux Foundation and Agentic AI Foundation members, and 25% for a group of ten or more registered at once. The MCPA certification voucher adds 175 EUR.
Too late for 2026: the call for proposals ran on Sessionize from 1 April to 8 June 2026, speakers were notified on 17 July and the schedule was published on 21 July. The rule that decides most submissions is stated up front: no product or vendor sales pitches. Four paying tiers are published for this edition, Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Startup, plus an unpaid media partner listing. Placed: Luca Berton (media partner) and La Brigata dei Geek Estinti (media partner) hold the two official media partner slots, and the Berton post carries a MEDIA25 discount code, which makes it promotion, not reporting. Independent but promotional in intent: techbeatly publishes its own discount code for the event, which points to a similar arrangement even though no partnership is disclosed on the page; AI Red Team, AI Expert Magazine, OpenClawsome and ainave carry no disclosure and read as calendar entries rather than reporting. Independent and substantive, but about the parent body: the TechCrunch piece of 9 December 2025 covers the Agentic AI Foundation's creation, not this conference. Organiser-claimed and unverified: none, because the organiser publishes no attendance projection and no press-attendance claim. Net read: there is no independent journalism about this event yet, and there cannot be before 17 September 2026.
Anyone who wants a vendor showcase or a product launch stage: the call for proposals bans product and vendor sales pitches, and the programme is built from maintainer and practitioner talks. Non-technical executives looking for a strategy briefing on AI: the session titles assume you write or operate agent code. Anyone whose interest in AI is broader than agents and protocols is better served by a generalist event: World Summit AI runs in the same city three weeks later, on 7 and 8 October 2026. And buyers who need pre-arranged meetings will not find them here, since there is no matchmaking system.
It is the September fixture of the European developer AI circuit and the only pan-European event dedicated to agent protocols rather than to AI in general. It follows MCP Dev Summit Tokyo, 10 and 11 September 2026, in the foundation's own sequence, sits in the same fortnight as AI Summit Barcelona, 22 and 23 September 2026, and precedes World Summit AI in Amsterdam, 7 and 8 October 2026, which covers the same city with a generalist audience. Its North American counterpart follows five weeks later. For a European team that ships agent infrastructure, this is the one date in the autumn where the MCP maintainers are in the same building.
Yes, one sibling and a series of smaller regional summits, all from the same foundation. AGNTCon + MCPCon North America runs on 22 and 23 October 2026 in San Jose, California, and is the only other event carrying the AGNTCon name. The MCP Dev Summit series covers the rest of the 2026 calendar: New York on 2 and 3 April, Bengaluru on 9 and 10 June, Mumbai on 14 and 15 June, Seoul on 13 and 14 August, Shanghai on 6 and 7 September, Tokyo on 10 and 11 September, Toronto on 5 and 6 October, Nairobi on 19 and 20 November. Those are single-protocol events and smaller in scope than the two AGNTCon editions.

Refunds are issued only for cancellations received two weeks or more before the event start date, and a 6% processing fee is deducted. RAI Amsterdam, Europaplein 24, 1078 GZ Amsterdam. Amsterdam RAI station is next to the complex and takes train, metro, tram and bus. From Schiphol airport it is 14.4 km, about 10 minutes by public transport or 15 minutes by car. Drivers use exit 9 of the A10; parking costs 5.50 EUR per hour up to 35 EUR a day, or 29 EUR for a day ticket bought online. There is dedicated bicycle parking. The event hotel, nhow Amsterdam RAI, is 350 m away, a 4-minute walk; its room block closed on 30 August 2026.
Because there is nothing to publish yet, and that is more honest than most. A first edition has no past number to quote, and the Linux Foundation has not issued a projection for this one. Judge it instead on what is countable today: 114 speakers on the directory, 41 paying sponsors across four tiers, around 100 sessions. Those are verifiable on the schedule and the sponsor page; an attendance projection would not have been.
Because the call for proposals bans product and vendor sales pitches, and the keynote list shows the rule held. The people opening both days are the co-creator of MCP at Anthropic, the MCP core maintainers at AWS and Google, and the transport working group maintainer at Hugging Face, not the Diamond sponsors who paid for the room. The sponsor list tells you which vendors are betting on agent infrastructure. The speaker list tells you who actually writes the specification, and those are not the same people.
Because the early bird was priced to fill a first edition, not to reflect its value. The 275 EUR rate ran until 3 September 2026 and the attendee pass then tripled to 795 EUR plus 21% VAT, six days later and two weeks before the doors open. Anyone paying full price now is paying the launch premium of a conference with no track record. The 130 EUR academic pass and the 129 EUR expo pass are the honest read on what the organiser thinks the floor is worth without the sessions.
